An Awesome Delivery...
Two
churches from Jamestown, North Dakota - Atonement Lutheran Church and St. John's
Lutheran Church delivered a semi truck load of building materials to Grace
Lutheran Church. The truck and three vans filled with
thirty-six
enthusiastic youths and their chaperons arrived at 3 p.m. on June 11th. They
were met by about 30 members of Grace to help unload the truck. It was an
extremely hot day but these volunteers worked their hearts out for about an hour
and a half. At break time, snow cones were provided to cool everyone off. At
5:00 p.m. they headed over to St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Bucktown, where they
were served a delicious fried fish dinner.
Paula
and Darlene of Atonement Lutheran Church and St. John's Lutheran Church said
that their churches wanted to help the churches devastated by Hurricane
Katrina.
They
decided to hold a "Forty Days of Community and Purpose", whereby they made it
their mission to collect building materials and funds to purchase materials and
gas for delivery to New Orleans. Glinz Semi Truck and Wiest Truck lines donated
the use of the truck and trailer to haul the building materials. Grace Church
received approximately 300 sheets of sheetrock, plywood and many other items.

The
youths consisted of two groups, the "Bible School Committee" and the
"Construction Committee." They were in New Orleans for one week conducting a
Children's Vacation Bible School session, praying, and helping out in the city
wherever they found a need. First Baptist Church in Reserve, Louisiana is
hosting the group.
God bless this wonderful group of volunteers.
